After earning a BFA in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2013, Livia received a grant from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation that enabled her to move across country and complete a large scale realistic painting series.

Livia fell into finishing thanks to a longtime fascination with woodworking. While living in Portland, OR she decided to pursue this interest and landed in a production facility that fabricated reclaimed wood tabletops and designer wall paneling for well-known companies throughout the U.S.

Attributed to her background in the arts and keen eye for detail, the spray booth quickly became “home”. This was the first finish department she would lead -with another artist as fate would have it, but not the last.

Her next venture was leading the finish department for a factory that produced cabinet doors and drawer boxes for makers throughout the state. There she mastered two-part industrial finishes, glazes and the art of water-based spray stain. She also developed an intuitive sense for how to create glass-like surfaces with opaque finishes and consistent custom stain jobs to satisfy the most demanding clients (and employer).

Looking for peace of mind, Livia moved to a riverfront property in the Willamette Valley where she continued finishing for high end cabinet shops until finding her "last home" with Prism Painting in Eugene. Eventually, the demand for Livia’s finishing warranted that she commit to her studio full-time, where she is accompanied by her wife.
